Reminder courtesy of Hurricane Irene - time to get a AA battery backup for your iPhone
On » Friday, September 2, 2011 //
With the East Coast facing both Hurricane Irene and earthquakes this week, a quick reminder: If you don't already own a AA battery backup for your iPhone, now's the time to buy one before the next big event strikes.
AA battery backups are preferable because if you're without power for a while, you can pop in any standard store-bought batteries to keep talking on your iPhone. Ideally, look for one that will actually recharge your iPhone, as opposed to simply letting you get a little more talk time out of the same level of power your phone has left. Some come with a flashlight as well.
Though I haven't tested it, Tekkeon TekCharge Mobile Power and Battery Charger ($20 on Amazon) has earned some good reviews. You'll need an iPhone USB cable to connect to it; Scosche's ultra-compact flipSYNC is a good option ($7 on Amazon); it fits right on your keychain.
