iPhone 5 - iOS 5 will include remote diagnostic tool
On » Friday, September 2, 2011 //
Apple is planning to offer a remote diagnostic tool for iOS devices, most likely as an added feature to this fall's iOS 5 release, according to the latest rumors.
A support person could use a web-based remote diagnostic tool to aid users needing help with their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The diagnostics will be triggered by a URL the user receives by email, or they can enter it manually, according to Apple Insider. Next, the user visits the corresponding website and agrees to the remote checkup. The iOS Safari browser then conducts an internal check of the device and transmits its findings to Apple's servers. The information sent will include current battery level, iOS version installed, and whether or not the device was properly turned off the last time.
